Kugel, Agnes Josephine (Marriage - 25 Oct. 1941)

Before the high altar, respendant with gold lace, lighted candles and a profusion of flowers, Miss Agnes Josephine Kugel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kugel, became the bride of Alfred A. Svoboda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Svoboda, Colby on Saturday morning. The Rev. C. D. Brady performed the ceremony and sang the nine o’clock nuptial high mass. At the offertory the choir sang the beautiful "Ave Marie Stella."

Large baskets of white baby chrysanthemums were placed on the communion rail and bows of white ribbons marked the pews reserved for the immediate relatives.

The bride’s princess gown of white satin was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, self trim buttons down the back and a fan shaped train. Her long veil fell from a seed pearl halo. She wore a diamond set locket, the gift of the groom, and carried a shower bouquet of white lilies and chrysanthemums.

Attending her as maid of honor was Miss Rose Bramucher, Chicago, in a rose colored taffeta frock made with a very full skirt. As bridesmaid was Miss Marion Baldeschwiler, Milwaukee, niece of the bride. She wore a blue velveray taffeta frock tied with pink bows. Both attendants wore matching plumed headdresses, similar necklaces, and carried bouquets of white chrysanthemums tied with ribbons.

Attending the groom were Rudolph Kugel, brother of the bride and George Baldeschwiler, Milwaukee, nephew of the bride.

Following the ceremony a breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents to immediate relatives. A reception for about 75 guests was held in the afternoon and a wedding dance at the Trianon Gardens was held in the evening. For the wedding reception the home was decorated in streamers of white, blue and pink which fell in festoons from white wedding bells. A decorated wedding cake and cut flowers completed the home decorations.

Mr. and Mrs. Svoboda left on a honeymoon trip to Chicago and will be at home on a farm east of Colby, on their return.
